What is the visual layout?

Collecting feedback should not be boring! Visual mode assimilates the philosophy of design driven feedback and supports creating surveys that are beautiful and engaging on every interaction. Visual mode enables you to customize background images for each question individually. You also have full control over where and how the question is displayed on screen without worrying about the devices your customers will provide feedback from. Visual mode seamlessly handles the display across devices like laptops, tablets, mobiles, and even TV's and other displays and at the same time makes it extremely easy for respondents to provide feedback.

How to enable visual layout?

Go to: Login » My Surveys (select a survey) » Edit » Design

Under the design tab, under Survey Layout, select the Visual layout.

Click on the Customize tab to further customize the theme.

Following customization options are available

Background: You can select any image you like and this image will be set as the default background for all questions in the survey.

Layout: You can select from the following question layout options

Full: Full image background will be used with questions in the foreground.
Left: Survey content will be displayed on the left with the image displayed on the right half.
Right: Survey content will be displayed on the right with the image on the right half.
Half: Image will be displayed in the top half and survey content in the bottom half.

Alignment: Horizontal alignment options for the survey content to be displayed left, center, or right aligned.

Widget color - Selected: This will be the primary theme color for the layout and will be used for buttons, progress bar, etc.

Widget color - Unselected: This will be the secondary theme color and used for unselected response options as well as secondary buttons like the back button.

Overlay Style: You can select and customize from the following overlay options for better legibility. Choose light color overlay for darker fonts and dark color overlay for lighter fonts.

Fill: Consistent overlay will be applied. You can select the color as well as opacity for the overlay.
Gradient: Gradient style overlay with density reducing vertically from top to bottom will be applied.
None: No overlay will be applied.

Font: You can select the font for your survey as well as the font colors.

Foreground font color: Selected foreground color will be used for the question and answer option font color.
Highlight font color: Selected highlight font color will be used for the text on primary buttons.

How to select custom background image for questions?

For the question you would like to customize, click on the Settings link to open the settings panel.

Select the Visual settings option.

Visual settings will only be available and visible if visual layout is selected.

Now you can select a custom background. To apply this new background to all the following questions, select the sticky background toggle.

Why can I not enable visual display mode for my survey?

Certain question types cannot be displayed when visual mode is enabled. Question types with steps or specific interactions don't work with the visual mode. If these question types are added on a survey, we don't allow to switch on visual mode for the survey.
